The Three Little Pigs

Twinkle retelling

Once upon a sunny morning, three little pig brothers packed their bags to build homes of their own. Pip wore a straw hat, Pod wore a flat cap, and Penny-Pig wore her favourite blue overalls.

Pip found a big pile of golden straw. "Easy!" he sang, and in one afternoon he tied it into a round little hut. Then he lay in the sun and played his tin whistle.

Pod found a stack of wooden sticks by the forest. Knock, knock, knock went his hammer, and by teatime he had a crooked wooden cabin. "Good enough!" he said, and went off to splash in the puddles.

Penny-Pig carried red bricks one by one, all week long. Her back ached and her hooves were dusty, but she mixed the mortar, laid every brick straight, and finished with a chimney and a lamp by the door.

That evening, a hungry grey wolf came over the hill. He knocked on the straw hut. "Little pig, let me in!" "Not by the hair on my chinny-chin-chin!" squeaked Pip. So the wolf huffed and puffed, and the straw blew away like dandelion seeds. Pip ran to Pod's cabin.

The wolf knocked on the wooden door. "Little pigs, let me in!" "Never!" cried the brothers. The wolf huffed and puffed, and the sticks clattered down. Away the two pigs ran, all the way to Penny-Pig's brick house.

"Little pigs, let me in!" growled the wolf. He huffed. He puffed. He puffed until his cheeks were purple, but the brick house didn't even wobble. At last he tried the chimney, and landed with a splash in a warm pot of soup water! Yowling, he ran over the hills and never came back.

That night, the three pigs ate supper by the fire. "Next time," said Pip, "I'm building with bricks." "And I'll help," said Pod. Penny-Pig just smiled, and the lamp by the door glowed all night long.
